Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Significant Return to Panem
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, as the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.
This marks the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who directed most of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
